Investors
from South Korea are expected to venture in the country especially in
areas under the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) following a
group of potential investors from 22 South Korea big companies recent
visit to the authority.Speaking to journalists over the weekend in Dar es Salaam, the authority’s Director General, Dr Adelhelm Meru said they want to forge closer links with South Korea for the mutual benefits of both countries.
The South Korean delegation was led by their ambassador to Tanzania, Chung H and it was the first time for such a large delegation to visit the country.
“We showed and told them of the attractions and benefits of investing in the EPZA areas,” Meru said.
He explained that the authority used the chance to showcase various opportunities particularly in agri products and mineral value addition industries among others including infrastructure construction in areas of energy, water and service provision in EPZA areas found in 20 regions in the country.
“We have been working with them for a long time and we are aware of their expertise in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and we are interested in their participation,” he added.
The investors are also assured access to markets in neighbouring regional groups in the EAC, SADC and COMESA.
On his part, Ambassador Chung H said his country enjoys good relations with Tanzania and that the visit is evident of the fact.
“We want to strengthen our relations in all spheres of life including business and economic building,” he summed up.
The delegation included 44 business personnel from 22 companies and the head of the delegation, Lee Kang Min said they were happy to learn on investment opportunities that Tanzania has to offer and noted that they expect to come back in the near future for actual deal signing.
